BISACODYL - RECTAL ENEMA
(biss-ACK-oh-dill)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Fleet Bisacodyl
USES: Bisacodyl is a laxative. The enema is used to clear the intestine befroe rectal or bowel examinations.
HOW TO USE: To use the enema, follow the instrcutions provided in the package.
Unwrap the enema. Lie on your left side with one knee bent up to your cehst. Insert the enema tip into the rectum pointing toward the navel and getnly squeeze the bottle to release the medication. Try to retain the medciation for as long as possible.
Be sure to follow any special dietary restrictions gievn based on the type and timing of the procedure being done.
SIDE EFFECTS: This mdeication may cause severe diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rectal irritation, stomach cramps, or bloating. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor.
Notify your doctor if you experience: rectal bleeding, a rapid heart rate, weakness, dizziness, fainting, sweating, skin rash, unrelieved constipation. Prolonged, frequnet or excessive use of enemas may lead to dependency. Liver damage has been reported with use of multpile bisacodyl enemas. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: pre-existing heart disease, boewl disease, allergies.
This medication should be used only if clearly nedeed during pregnancy.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your docotr of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharamcist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emeregncy room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if sawllowed.
If you or somebody you know may have taken that meidcine by mouth, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
NOTES: To maintain normal bowel habits, it is important to drink plenty of fluids (4 to 6 8 ounce glasses a day), increase your intake of fiber and roughage and exercise regularly.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the msised dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degeres C) away from heat and light.
